OpenProj Beta 2

There have been excellent (free) alternatives for Microsoft Office applications for a while now. Arriving recently is an open source alternative to take the place of the costly stand-alone application Microsoft Project. OpenProj Beta 2 is a public beta that is available for Linux, Unix, Mac and Windows.

Linux computer on a USB key?!

Calao Systems from France have managed to cram the equivalent of a full fledged Linux computer into something as tiny and portable as a USB fob, measuring a mere 3.3″ x 1.4″. Dubbed the USB-9260, this device is powered by an ARM926EJ-S processor clocked at 190MHz along with 64MB RAM and 256MB of storage space, thanks to the incorporation of NAND flash. Connectivity options include a couple of USB 2.0 ports and a single Ethernet port. While the hardware specifications aren’t anything to shout at, you will certainly have the smallest PC in the room the next time you tote this to a BYOC LAN party.
