Celestron SkyScout

The SkyScout is educational, as well as a blast to play with. It's your own handheld planetarium! Point the device at any celestial body in the night sky and you'll immediately be able to access such information as its name, history, mythology, and more. The SkyScout contains data on over 6,000 heavenly objects, and firmware updates add more to the database all the time.
(Celestron, $399, ages 8 and up)
