New car tech

Cars are one of the greatest inventions that man has come up with. The impact that they have had on industry, travel and daily life, are near immeasurable. There is a lot of tech built into cars and the tech is just getting better
as car manufacturers continue to make advancements to the car. I will review four vehicles that have added some extra tech into their designs.

The Avalanche has incorporated an option for factory installed equipment to allow the vehicle to be a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot. The system enables full Internet access inside the vehicle and up to a 150 feet around the vehicle with a laptop or mobile Wi-Fi device. The equipment requires a subscription fee along with the equipment costs, but it is very affordable and offers up to one gigabyte of data.

Kia has made great investment into their tech features and is ahead of the pack of car in their class. Kia has incorporated Sirius satellite radio; Bluetooth; steering-wheel phone and audio controls; and a USB port for audio players. UVO, the Kia flavor of the Microsoft entertainment controller, is another tech option which is similar Ford SYNC. . UVO controls phone and audio function. UVO does have the latest software, though, so the list of commands used to operate the car’s functions is longer, cutting down on the number of voice commands you have to make to access features. UVO’s bundled with HD radio, and in the future, it will read out your Twitter and RSS updates.

Lexus has taken the hybrid car to a new level. They have created hybrid cars that perform much like traditional, gas-powered cars. The Lexus Ct200H features an exhaust-gas recovery system that helps lower emissions and improve fuel economy. This helps reduce the amount the gasoline engine runs in short-trip use. In testing the Lexus has been recorded as getting as much as 42 mpg.

The Titan Sv is flex-fuel capable. A flex-fuel model can burn any combination of E85 and straight gasoline, so owners can fill up with either fuel at any time. Ethanol is a more abrasive fuel and produces more oxygen. Flex fuel vehicles have system alterations that allow them to properly run on an ethanol-mixed fuel. Changes to the system include alterations to the the fuel system and oxygen sensors.
